Jade Ocampo
Growing up in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood, Jade Ocampo never imagined that her post-high school journey would take her into the world of quantum research, professional engineering societies, and national internships.
De’Anna Stamps was looking for a classic college experience. By getting involved at Kennedy-King College, she was able to turn that dream into a reality.
After graduating from Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy, De’Anna took advantage of the Star Scholarship to continue her education at Kennedy-King at no cost. Beyond her academics as a business and economics student, she joined various student organizations, including the Student Government Association, where she served as secretary, and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
De’Anna earned her associate degree in the spring of 2025 and, around the same time, also received the Luminary Award due to her significant contributions to Kennedy-King. Next, she plans to transfer to a four-year school to earn a bachelor’s degree.
