Arani

After exploring her options for an affordable education, Arani made a life-changing decision. She enrolled at Malcolm X College where she soon joined the Surgical Technology program—taking her first step towards a dream of being in the medical field.  

From the start, Arani embraced every opportunity. She credits her success to her mentors and the college resources that helped her stay focused and prepared throughout her academic journey.  

“The food pantry was a great resource. The library is a great resource. The laptop loaner program was great. I was able to come to the library whenever I needed additional tech time. I received the MCX scholarship which was a huge help as well as the United Center Joint Venture scholarship. They really relieved the financial burden, which set me up for success,” she said. 

With support from mentors, scholarships and resources, Arani’s confidence grew. Her hard work paid off as she secured a position in the medical field she always dreamed of and proudly earned her Associate in Applied Science degree. Now’s she’s working in the medical field, applying what she learned at MXC.  

Reflecting on her journey, Arani shared a heartfelt message with current students, encouraging them to keep pushing forward.

“People here want you to succeed.” Arani shared, “If that’s your goal and that’s what you want you can definitely reach it here.”
