Hussain Gilani, an aspiring engineer, wanted to get his start in the field without racking up student debt. When he heard about Wright College’s Engineering Pathways program, he knew it would be a great fit. Even better, due to his good grades as a Chicago Public Schools student, he found out he would be able to take advantage of the program tuition-free through the Star Scholarship.

“[The Star Scholarship] helped me overcome financial barriers… especially during the pandemic,” Hussain said.

After completing his associate degree, Hussain plans to transfer to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or the Illinois Institute of Technology to study engineering. Wright’s pathways program boasts guaranteed admissions to both schools, making it a seamless transition.

One day, Hussain wants to use his degree in engineering to help provide people in developing countries with access to clean energy.
