biology professor at Olive-Harvey College

Dr. Maretha Roberts worked in biological research on the East Coast for many years before discovering her passion for teaching. “I realized I don’t want to spend my life…isolated in a lab doing research,” she said. “So, I decided to try teaching and found that I enjoy it very much.”

Today, she’s a biology professor at Olive-Harvey College committed to making science relevant and engaging for her students. She appreciates all the ways the tight-knit community there helps her students to learn new material.

“The classes sizes are small; they can get more hands-on and more individual attention. They can actually feel and see and do and get results,” she said. “I try to make sure they get that.”
