Taking advantage of resources like the Transfer Center early, she learned that many of the four-year universities she was interested in, like UIC, had a Guaranteed Admissions Program. With that knowledge, she applied to as many guaranteed admissions programs as she could.

Next up was finding an internship. She found out about a week-long internship at UIC (Winter Guild) that would allow her to collaborate on an app with other women in computer science. In 2021, she completed both the internship and her Associate in Science with a focus on computer science.

She decided to transfer to UIC to earn a bachelor’s and used a scholarship from CME Group to help fund her education. Charlotte is now continuing to study computer science with a focus in software engineering. Her next move? She’s already landed a summer internship for 2022 in software engineering at Ford Motor Company.

And as Charlotte says, “my journey has just begun!”
