After Jasmine Richmond graduated from Fenger High School on Chicago’s far South Side, she considered a career in the trades. Her mother’s death a month after high school graduation changed her plans to attend a four-year university, and she focused on entering an allied health trade quickly to support her younger siblings.

After trying out a handful of different career areas and surviving acute kidney failure, Jasmine was called back to her first love: dentistry. She enrolled in Olive-Harvey’s dental hygiene associate degree program and benefited from the close-knit community and dedicated professors she found there.

With her associate degree complete, Jasmine has plans for bachelor’s degree in dentistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago and hopes to continue her education there to become a dentist one day soon. Her love of science and the support she received at Olive-Harvey College helped launch her toward her dream career.
