While it might not be accurate to say Alycia Adams grew up wanting to work at a funeral home, she did express interest in eighth grade.

Right before entering the University of Chicago Charter School for high school, the 26-year-old listed mortician as her desired profession on a junior high assignment. After high school Alycia spent some time in California before eventually returning to Chicago and landing at Harold Washington College for some gen ed courses. From there she enrolled at Malcolm X College, where she earned an associate degree in general studies and transitioned to the school’s Mortuary Science program. She’s set to complete in May of 2019. The native of East Chicago and mother of two plans on a career in embalming.
