Star Scholarship paves the way to a degree in IT

A graduate of Amundsen High School, Adeola Fayemi was unsure about what he wanted to do after high school until he heard about the Star Scholarship from one of his teachers. The Star Scholarship made enrolling at Wright College and pursuing a degree in computer science an easy decision, especially when it allowed him to go to school for free.

Adeola thoroughly enjoyed his time at Wright College and was an involved member of the Student Government Association and Wright IT club, which helps connect students with internships in the technology industry and organizes events on campus. He was also a frequent visitor to the Tutoring Center and Writing Center, professing that he was there more times than he could count and received a lot of great help when it came to math.

“Get involved in student activities and organizations, and don’t be afraid to reach out to professors and friends because they’re there to help you.”

Thanks to the Star Scholarship partnership between Wright College and the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Adeola was awarded a $31,000 scholarship to continue his studies in information technology and began classes at IIT in fall of 2018.
