After she graduated from Little Village High School in 2013, Genesis got her associate degree from St. Augustine College. However, they didn’t offer a business degree, and after working in retail, Genesis knew that was the direction she wanted to go. So she did some research and found that Daley College, which was close to home, offered the business classes she was looking for.
Genesis took classes for two semesters at Daley, being sure to work with the Transfer Center because she knew she wanted to use the classes she was taking to transfer to a four-year university. After more research under the guidance of the Transfer Center director, Genesis decided to apply to St. Xavier University, on Chicago’s south side.
Now, Genesis will start classes in the fall of 2018 at St. Xavier with the help of a substantial merit scholarship, and plans to study business.
