Sarah E. Goode senior Kyra Washington, 18, earned both an associate degree and a high school diploma in the spring of 2018. Kyra was a member of the volleyball, swimming and track teams, while also managing her rigorous Daley College coursework. She started taking college classes at Daley during her sophomore year, describing the experience as fun, a bit overwhelming and good preparation for a four-year school. The transition was eased thanks to friends, family, faculty and staff at both schools, and especially Daley College advisor and Dean of Instruction Alexis Ross.
While at Sarah E. Goode, Kyra benefited from an IBM mentor and IBM workplace experiences that inspired her to embrace science, technology, engineering and math. She will attend Bradley University this fall, where she’ll double major in pre-med and journalism.
