Rikyah Wright is not your average 17 year old. Given what she’s accomplished already and her interest in sports, you can say she’s ahead of the game.

After graduating early from Kenwood Academy in May of 2017, Rikyah headed to Harold Washington College. The transition was pretty seamless, partly because Rikyah while in high school was taking college classes with City Colleges (at Harold Washington) and took AP classes while at Kenwood. She was a dual enrollment-dual credit student, so when she entered Harold Washington in Fall 2017, she already had a semester’s worth of college credit. This dual enrollment/dual credit experience helped her determine a course of study, while her status as a Star Scholar provides her with financial support beyond what her financial aid covers. She’s also a Harold Washington College Student Government Association Senator and a work study student.

Update: After majoring in business at Harold Washington, Rikyah is set on a career in sports management. She transferred to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and plans on graduating in the spring of 2020.
